Crowds got out of hand at a Lincoln Heights club where rapper Tyler, the Creator was scheduled to perform alongside electronic artist Flying Lotus tonight, L.A. Weekly has learned. The show apparently was shut down by police.

The unruliness outside the Airliner club was reported at 10:10 p.m., LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman told us. The venue reached capacity and crowds had to be turned away, causing some unrest, she said:

Officers arrived in riot gear and it appeared that people started leaving, she said:

The event was at maximum capacity and the bouncer wasn't letting people in. They became unruly.

Tyler, the Creator, who got his start as a member of the rap crew Odd Future, tweeted this:

[Added at 11:14]: We were told Flying Lotus was a special guest as part of a lineup that includes some of the artists that will be a part of the Odd Future Carnival next month at the L.A. Coliseum, a venue that decided in 2011 to no longer allow raves.
