Two young people were shot and wounded in an attack right outside Crenshaw High School Wednesday afternoon, police said. One of the victims was a student whose condition was unknown. The other, a 19-year-old, was hospitalized in serious condition, said Los Angeles police Officer Rosario Herrera told the Weekly.

The shooting in the 5000 block of South 11th Avenue was reported about 2 p.m., she said. The campus was put on “lock down” by police — meaning students were not allowed to leave — although it's not clear if they were eventually given the green light to exit. Herrera said no search for suspects in the immediate area was underway late Wednesday afternoon.
