Belcampo Meat Company has already proven itself as an innovator in the meat industry. As we explained in our profile of the company last year, the CA-based retailer/butcher/farm/slaughterhouse company controls all aspects of its supply chain, and raises all the animals that it slaughters and sells. They've just opened their first full-scale, L.A.-area restaurant in Santa Monica.

Any innovator worth its salt in today's market knows that you have to rely on many different revenue streams to succeed, both big and small, and this week they announce they'll be hosting meat camps for adults this summer. There's a meat camp for women and a meat camp for gay men, both to be held in August. Camps will be held at Belcampo's farm in Mt. Shasta, California, are three days long, and will cover knife skills, meat cutting, pairing meat with wines, and meat cookery with a focus on open-fire grilling. Cost is $3750 per person single occupancy and $2500 per person double occupancy and is all-inclusive, with participants lodged in luxury tents in the farm’s orchard.

This isn't the company's first foray into luxury feel-good vacations. A large part of their business used to be in eco-travel to a property they own in Belize. That business still exists, but is now separate from the meat business.

You can check out brochures for the camps (they also offer a corporate getaway) on the company's website.
