Two Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Indio

INDIO, CA (July 23, 2021) – Friday morning, July 16, two people sustained life threatening injuries in a car accident on Monroe Street.

The wreck happened around 11:50 a.m., on Monroe Street just north of Avenue 51, as state by the report.  Dispatchers arrived shortly after.

According to the Indio Police Department, a Dodge Ram pickup truck crashed into two pedestrians who were repairing a flat tire outside their car.

Moreover, the motorist fled the scene and has yet to be identified.

Both victims were airlifted to Palm Springs’ Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Although, there has been no update on their current condition.

According to authorities, Julio Infante, 47, of Indio, who has been identified as a “person of interest” in the investigation, is the registered owner of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the crash is still being investigated at this time. Once available, more information will be released.
