At last, the severed human head discovered on the trail to the Hollywood sign has met its two best friends.

The LAPD's Animal Cruelty Task Force pulled a couple of severed dog heads — formerly belonging to a chocolate lab and a German shepherd — from a dumpster behind the CVS on Slauson Avenue last night.

“It was apparent that the dogs' heads had been clearly severed from their bodies with a sharp object…”

… reads the LAPD report. (Shudder.) “The bodies of the dogs were not found.”

The report also includes imaginative, gruesome speculations like “no determination has been made if this incident involved dog fighting” and “it is unknown if the dogs had been dead before their heads were removed.”

But one thing's for sure:

It is believed the perpetrator severed the dogs' heads at another location, and then traveled to the location where the heads were disposed inside of a dumpster.

Turns out disposing dog heads in dumpsters (or any other “waste matter”) is illegal under California Penal Code Section 374:

(a) It is unlawful to dump or cause to be dumped waste matter in or upon a public or private highway or road, including any portion of the right-of-way thereof, or in or upon private property into or upon which the public is admitted by easement or license, or upon private property without the consent of the owner, or in or upon a public park or other public property other than property designated or set aside for that purpose by the governing board or body having charge of that property.

So the perpetrator he LAPD's task force is reportedly reviewing surveillance footage from out back the CVS, but witnesses are urged to call detectives with any posible leads at (213) 486-0450.

Truly, stranger than Hollywood.
