Two Victims Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident near Buena Vista Boulevard

BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 19, 2022) – Sunday evening, Luis Adrian Perez Tapia and Elena Lopez were killed in a solo-car crash.

Officers responded to the scene around 10:09 p.m., on South Vineland Road just north of Buena Vista Boulevard.

Per reports, Tapia was driving a 2009 Infinity G37 north on South Vineland. The Infinity then overcorrected and lost control before drifting onto the east shoulder of the road.

Shortly after, the right front of the vehicle then crashed into a tree.

The initial impact caused the vehicle to rotate and crash into another tree. Medics arrived and pronounced 24-year-old Tapia and 28-year-old Lopez dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.

Following preliminary duties, officers are unsure as to whether or not alcohol or drugs played a factor in the single-vehicle accident near Buena Vista Boulevard.
