The ghost of John Bayard Anderson will rise from the political grave 'ere this night is out, eddying among the topical titters of political comedy in Two-Party Animals, an initiative of Writers Bloc Presents. Three comedians — habitual Whose Line Is It Anyway? stepper Greg Proops, Last Comic Standing champ Alonzo Bodden and Esquire object of laughter-lust Ben Gleib — take a soused stage doused in laughter, brought to some semblance of civility only by the powers of moderator Patt Morrison and one of her deeply immoderate hats. Like violent death and anal orgasms, politics has consistently proven to be fertile ground for comedic material. The humor you experience tonight will be pristine in its intention and anger, focused so intensely on bathing you in the truth that when you later text your friends about the evening, you'll finally understand why spellcheck changes “corruption” to “corporation.” The Mint, 6010 W. Pico Blvd., Mid-City; Wed., Sept. 10, 7 p.m.; $15. (323) 954-9400, writersblocpresents.com.
