Drivers Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near Mile Marker 278
TYE, TX (September 4, 2024) – Two victims were killed early Sunday morning, in a wrong-way collision on eastbound Interstate 20.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m., near mile marker 278.
Per reports, a silver Toyota sedan was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when police officers tried to get the driver’s attention.
Despite their efforts, the sedan continued on and collided head-on with a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Shortly after the collision, an 18-wheeler semi-truck struck the disabled Dodge truck, and another vehicle hit the resulting debris.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures on the Dodge driver, but both the Toyota and Dodge drivers were pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.
Troopers have indicated that alcohol may have played a role in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
