Deadly Auto Collision in Sutter County Leaves Two Fatalities

SUTTER COUNTY, CA (July 9, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 20 in Sutter County.

According to the CHP, the fatal crash occurred around 2:30 P.M., on Humphrey Road involving a GMC 3500 and a Nissan Titan.

Eventually, investigators determined that the GMC rear-ended the Nissan, causing it to lose control. As a result, a westbound big-rig with two trailers struck the passenger side of the Titan as it veered into the westbound lane.

Furthermore, the impact caused the Titan’s cabin to become detached from the cargo bed and catch fire.

The two occupants of the Nissan received major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the big-rig and the GMC to a hospital in an unknown condition.

At this time, the CHP are investigating the scene on Highway 20 to identify the circumstances that led to the multi-vehicle crash.

Once available, more information will be released.
