Driver Arrested in Possible DUI Crash on State Route 165

MERCED COUNTY, CA (December 20, 2021) – A possible DUI crash on Westside Boulevard along State Route 165 hospitalized two individuals Sunday evening.

According to reports, the crash on Westside Boulevard occurred around 12:35 a.m. of December 5th.

Furthermore, the possible DUI crash on Westside Boulevard involved a 19-year-old female driver and a 20-year-old male passenger.

Both from Modesto, the two were heading north on State Route 165 in a white Dodge Charger when the driver failed to negotiate a turn upon approaching a curve.

It continued straight and left the roadway, striking a power pole. The impact caused the toppling of another pole, disrupting power and telephone lines.

Paramedics transported the two to a local hospital after sustaining injuries.

Meanwhile, police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Authorities closed both lanes of 165 for an extended period of time for cleanup and preliminary duties.
