Two Hospitalized Following Traffic Accident near Vista Village Drive

VISTA, CA (October 4, 2022) – Sunday evening, two victims sustained injuries in a fiery car accident on Main Street.

The incident took place at the intersection of Main Street and Vista Village Drive around 8:30 p.m.

According to reports, the 23-year-old male driver of a Scion with a 20-year-old female passenger was heading east on Vista Village. For reasons currently unclear, the vehicle collided with a Ford Mustang. Upon impact, the Scion veered off the road before striking a tree and a concrete wall. The impact of the collision caused the Scion to catch fire, trapping the driver and his passenger inside.

Two active military members, one of whom is a U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy engineer witnessed the accident and assisted in putting out the fire with fire extinguishers from surrounding shops.

Responding medics airlifted the driver to the hospital, with major but not life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile the passenger was taken to the hospital via ground ambulance for treatment of her injuries.

At this time, officials have withheld the names of the victims. An investigation into the car accident on Main Street is on-going.
