Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate Highway 680 Left Two Injured

MARTINEZ, CA (August 23, 2022) – Wednesday morning, officers responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 680 that injured at least two.

The incident happened on August 17th shortly before 7:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes just north of Pacheco Boulevard, according to Officer Adam Lane.

Lane also added that four vehicles were involved in the crash, including a big rig that jackknifed and struck the center divider of the Highway.

Furthermore, at least two people suffered minor injuries from the collision. Diesel was spilled along the highway but it was contained and did not spread into the surrounding area.

Both lanes of the Highway 680 were shut down until the afternoon to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Additional information will be updated as it becomes available to the public. An active investigation is currently underway.

Because of their sheer size, large vehicles, like semi-trucks and trailers, increase the risk of a crash. Always be mindful of your vehicle’s large height and weight. Maintain your travel lane and follow the speed limit. Also, adjust accordingly to give way for lane changes and other vehicles.
