Car Crash near Mathilda Avenue Left 2 Dead, 2 Arrested

SUNNYVALE, CA (July 20, 2022) – On Saturday, police responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 101 that left two people dead, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on July 16th near Mathilda Avenue involving a Jeep and a Prius, per initial reports.

Furthermore, police said that the two occupants of the Prius got out of the car when a third vehicle struck them, causing their deaths.

Meanwhile, the identities of all involved parties have not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Further investigations are still underway.

Moreover, the drivers of both the Jeep and the Prius were arrested with DUI charges. The third driver did not face any charges.

Both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

An active investigation into the multi-vehicle collision on Highway 101 is currently underway.
