We might just have a war on our hands. Yes — the north against the south. It turns out two small communities on the southern edge of Los Angeles County want to secede to Orange County.

According to the Long Beach Press-Telegram (via LAist), ” … the 194-unit Imperial Estates neighborhood [would go] to Los Alamitos and the 184-unit Island Village neighborhood [wants to split to] to Seal Beach.” But not so fast …

The city of Long Beach, where those communities currently reside, says no. There's too much tax money on the line, according to the P-T:

Deputy City Manager Reggie Harrison said that wasn't included in the deal because doing so would cost Long Beach $251,998 in annual property tax and other revenues from Imperial Estates and $343,021 from Island Village.

Has it really sunk to this? Communities wanting to leave L.A. County, once the nation's center of glamor and dreams to … O.C., home of the lifted pickup and gothic-letter t-shirt?

Fine, if you want the O.C. lifestyle so bad, we say go. Just take Lindsay Lohan with you.
