Take the case of a 12-year-old boy whom authorities say stabbed a 13-year-old acquaintance with a steak knife in Southern California yesterday afternoon. Over what? A girl.

… at 3:52 p.m. near Westway Lane and Primavera Lane in the high desert community of Victorville, San Bernardino County sheriff's officials tell us.

According to a sheriff's statement, ” … the victim received a minor laceration that was treated at the scene by AMR [American Medical Response].”

Deputies at the scene alleged the 12-year-old had the knife and a martial arts throwing star on him.

He was expected to be booked “at Apple Valley Juvenile Hall on charges of PC245-Assault with a weapon, PC422-Terrorist Threats and PC12020- Possession of a deadly weapon,” according to the statement.
