USC fullback Stanley Havili will not suit up for Thursday's Rose Bowl face-off between the Trojans and Penn State. An Associated Press report said coach Pete Carroll made the announcement after Tuesday's practice, citing Havili's “academic ineligibility.” USC Athletic Department spokesman Tim Tessalone confirmed to the L.A. Weekly that Havili is ineligible to play in the Big Game, but did not answer questions related to USC's academic thresholds for players, or when Havili might again play football.
