A man was shot in front of an apartment after he got into a verbal argument in South Los Angeles April 17.

Christopher Gaither, 33, was standing on the second floor landing of an apartment building with a friend in the 6000 block of San Pedro Avenue when they got into a verbal dispute around 3:30 am Saturday with a suspect or suspects who were standing in the parking lot.

One of the suspects shot up at him, striking him three times in the abdomen and lower extremities. He died at the hospital a few hours later. Detectives are unsure if the incident was gang-related.
