Motorcycle-Vehicle Collision near Interstate 5 Resulted Left One Dead

TACOMA, WA (September 8, 2023) – Early Wednesday evening, Travis Horton lost his life in a motorcycle accident. The incident happened on August 16th, just before 5:45 p.m., near westbound State Route 16 and southbound Interstate 5. According to reports, Horton was riding his motorcycle in the area around the State Route 16 ramp from Interstate 5 when he collided with a Mercedes sedan and a Ford pickup. The impact of the collision caused Horton to be ejected from his motorcycle over the barrier onto South Tacoma Way below. The riderless motorcycle continued along Interstate 5 and hit a third vehicle. Officials later pronounced 31-year-old Travis Horton, of Olalla, dead, due to the extent of his condition. It is currently unknown whether any other people sustained injuries as a result of the motorcycle accident. Following the collision, crews shut down areas surrounding the ramp and South Tacoma Way. There, they performed cleanup and preliminary duties.
