Corrected at the bottom: Luckily the guy didn't risk his life for low-end wine.

A wine thief at the Sherman Oaks Trader Joe's nearly lost his life after cops shot at him last night. We hope he wasn't just boosting a case of Two Buck Chuck.

Two LAPD officers were outside the store investigating a traffic incident when out comes Senor Boost-A-Vino with a case in-hand, according to KCAL 9.

The cops seemed to figure out what was happening in an instant:

They figured out a robbery had just occurred, tried to intervene, and opened fire when the suspect jumped into a white van and sped toward the law enforcers, Det. Gus Villanueva told the station.

That's when the officer-involved shooting happened. Somehow, the wine spectator got away and apparently escaped having to savor the terroir of his own blood. No injuries were reported.

It all went down about 6:35 p.m. in the parking lot of the store at 14119 Riverside Drive, according to Officer Christopher No.

The amazing thing is that business went on as usual:

[Corrected at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday]: Luckily the haul wasn't Two Buck Chuck. The Los Angeles Times' Andrew Blankstein interviewed witnesses at the store who said the suspect had boosted several bottles of champagne. Expensive champagne. Still not worth it, but a little more respectable.
