Celebrating the lead up to this weekend’s 475th anniversary of the
Virgin of Guadalupe’s visits with St. Juan Diego back in 1531, Mexican
Catholics all over Los Angeles came out to Olvera Street’s La Placita
Church to see a “peregrina” image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It’s a
digital reproduction of the original image displayed in Mexico City’s
cathedral — but not just any digital image. This one has been touched
by the Mexican relic and is believed by many to have powers straight
from the Virgin.
