As the season of giving kicks off, the cannabis industry continues its year-round effort to give back, recently highlighted by some of California's biggest brands and a ton of local dispensaries joining forces to raise awareness of hunger on United Nations' World Food Day. Led by Bloom Farms, which since 2014 has fed more than 1.4 million meals to Californians in need, the companies kicked off a monthlong effort starting Oct. 16, which is World Food Day.

On Thursday, Oct. 25, the fourth annual Bowl for Ronnie takes place at the Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City. Much like the annual Ride for Ronnie event, Bowl for Ronnie raises money for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.

On the surface, a collaboration between Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver/The Cult drummer Matt Sorum and actress-comedian Jane Lynch (Best in Show, Glee, etc.) makes little sense. And yet they’ve come together through their shared love of the arts to try to help public schools, as budgets for the arts and music are continually brutally slashed.
