If you were one of the countless people who went to Vancouver for the Olympics and stayed for the poutine, you're in luck. Top Chef Canada will be coming to a screen near you (well, if you're still in B.C.) next year. NBC Universal and Canwest have reached an agreement to bring the hit reality show to Canada in spring 2011.

“Canadians are passionate about food,” said Karen Gelbart, a Canwest senior VP in charge of specialty channel content. Of course they are. People who can come up with french fries topped with fresh cheese curds and gravy demonstrate an enormous amount of passion. No word on the cast or other production details, but in a perfect world, the show's judges would consist of Calvin Trillin and most of the cast, past and present, of Saturday Night Live.

If you have any ideas, Food Network Canada is asking for suggestions via this quaint YouTube video. (Check out what appears to be a drawing of Christopher Walken on the bulletin board. Walken, who can cook as well as dance, would make a splendid judge too.) Let's hope the production values for the show are a little better.
