After only seven months, Top Chef season 7 contestant Amanda Baumgarten is out as executive chef at downtown's Water Grill. Baumgarten was promoted from sous chef in mid-February to fill the shoes of chef David LeFevre, who left in September 2010 to open his own bistro, M.B. Post in Manhattan Beach.

Baumgarten's departure is the result of a “mutual decision to part ways,” reports Downtown News. “We are appreciative of the time Amanda spent at Water Grill and wish her the best of luck in the future,” said Jeff Goodman, the restaurant's chief operating officer, in an official statement on the matter. Her successor has yet to be named.
