LA Food & Wine
This four-day extravaganza features dozens of events including special lunches and dinners cooked by top chefs from around the country. Sang Yoon of Lukshon hosts Chris Cosentino of Incanto (San Francisco), Tom Colicchio throws a clambake, Michel Richard will discuss his book Happy in the Kitchen, Guy Fieri throws a barbecue on the pier, Dan Dunn hosts Booze, Blues & BBQ — and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Look for Masaharu Morimoto, Giada de Laurentiis, Wolfgang Puck (who helped put the event together) and dozens of other food celebs.

Taste of Mercado La Paloma
Samples the wickedly spiced cochinita pibil of Chichen Itza, the ceviche of Mo-Chica and food from the other eateries inside Mercato La Paloma at this 10th anniversary celebration for the venue. The tasting festival is followed by a concert at 8 p.m. with Orquesta Charangoa.

L.A. Beer Float Showdown
Organized by Josh Lurie of Food GPS, the third incarnation of this now famous annual event features five chefs teaming with five breweries to craft the best beer float. Winner gets bragging rights — and $500.

Sunset Beer Company Opening Party
Timed to coincide with L.A. Beer Week, the opening of LA's first all-beer bottle shop promises 200 bottles over which to drool.

Golden Road Brewing Opening
The official grand opening of this Atwater Village's newest, and L.A.'s largest, brewery is a cause for celebration. Sip their Point The Way IPA, among other brews as you admire the converted railroad switching station.

LQ's Cheese Cart Pop-Up
Laurent Quenioux's roaming cheese cart pops up at wine shop Domaine LA, where its dairy wonders will be paired with a mix of traditional and unconventional wines. Sure, a Sauternes with your blue cheese is obvious, but how about an apple cider from Normandy?
When: 2 – 24 p.m., Oct. 16
