This documentary featuring farmer/activist Joel Salatin focuses on the escalating fight for food rights in America and the suspect motives (can anyone say corporate-driven farm subsidies?) of the government's food safety “experts.”

The Amazing Gourmet Food Truck Race

“The Amazing Race” meets the food truck craze in this gluttonous scavenger hunt that features seven local food trucks. Eat your way through Hollywood and downtown LA as you explore the city.

When: June 25th, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

L.A. Vegan Beer Festival

We thought all beer was vegan, but just in case you want to be sure, there will be absolutely no animal products in the Firestone Walker, Ballast Point, Eagle Rock, Deschutes, Eel River, Brouwerij West and other beers served at this suds celebration organized by local vegan blogger Quarry Girl and Tony Yanow (Tony's Darts Away, Mohawk Bend, Golden Road).

When: 1 – 5 p.m., June 25

S3: Sweet, Savory and Sommelier

Local food blogger Abbay Abanes of Pleasure Palate helped organize this tasting featuring Filipino-inspired chocolate creations from Marti Chocolatt paired with wines selected by sommelier Santos Uy (Mignon, Bacaro).

Oyster Fest

The boys from Farm Fresh Seafood will be shucking oysters in the parking lot while inside,

Domaine LA serves a flight of seafood-friendly summer wines like Blanc de Blancs, Muscadet, Chablis and Sancerre.

Cost: $20, advance purchase. Day-of: $13, wine flight; $12/half dozen oysters or $2 each.
