There is a cold front headed our way so you can either spend it huddled alone in your apartment, or out dancing, drinking, and merrymaking with friends and wellwishers alike. We think you should go out dancing, drinking (but not driving) and merrymaking, and have some events so awesome that we're sure you'll be inclined to agree! So get out and enjoy the Top 5 Things to Do This Weekend:

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 25: HOW TO DRESS WELL + SHLOMO + DEATH KIT

Tom Kress is into “post-Kantian” philosophy, which he has studied at a university in Cologne; otherwise, he is making what Pitchfork has called “narcotized, below-fi R&B” as How to Dress Well where he sings over beats in a mixture that is something like diaphanous indie-soul. He is in town this weekend and playing with hip-hop beatmaker Shlomo.

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 26: DEATH + RTX + SIC ALPS AT THE ECHOPLEX

You might have seen our write-up on Page 2 about Death, the punk trio started in Detroit in the 1970s by the Hackney brothers. This Saturday is their first LA show ever; the above clip “Politicians in My Eyes”, was described by Jack White as “ahead of punk, and ahead of its time.” Indeed it was. Go see one of the first punk bands ever as they play their first L.A. show. It's worth the $14 and then some.
