DineL.A. Restaurant Week
DineL.A.'s restaurant week, a recurring event, is back for another week, or rather weeks. Organized by the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board and presented in partnership with American Express, DineL.A. showcases more than 300 restaurants, who create prix fixe lunch and dinner menus. There are no tickets or passes but reservations are strongly encouraged. Participating restaurants include A.O.C., Akasha, Ammo, Border Grill, Chinois on Main, Drago Centro, Jar, Josie, K-Zo, Littlefork, Loteria Grill,  Lukshon, Post & Beam, Rao's, Rivera, Scarpetta, the Bazaar — and many, many more. It's a great way to explore the city's restaurants and check out new places without blowing your dining-out budget.

WHEN: Monday, July 14, through Friday, July 27
WHERE: 300 or so L.A. restaurants.
COST: Prix fixe lunch menus are $15, $20 and $25; dinner menus are $25, $35 and $45.]

Taste of Farmers Market
It's the 80th anniversary of the Original Farmers Market at Third and Fairfax, thus this year's Taste of Farmers Market will be particularly festive. It's the sixth of these annual parties, in which your favorite vendors will have specials and samples, plus entertainment and giveaways. The ticket includes free parking, which is almost worth it, if you're used to scrambling for validation. 
WHAT: Taste of Farmers Market
WHEN: Tuesday, July 15, 5-9 p.m.
WHERE: The Original Farmers Market, 6333 W. Third St., Los Angeles.
COST: Tickets are $35 ($40 at the door) and include free parking. 


Claremont Restaurant Week
If you live further east, the city of Claremont is having its own restaurant week, its second annual event. Many of that city's more than 75 eateries and hotel restaurants will offer prix fixe lunch and dinner menus to highlight local cuisine. “Claremont Restaurant Week will showcase our growing, local culinary scene that is comprised of some terrific young chefs, experienced and daring proprietors, menus filled with locally sourced ingredients and restaurants serving craft beers and ales that complement their meals,” said Maureen Aldridge, CEO, Claremont Chamber of Commerce.

WHEN: Monday, July 14, through Sunday, July 20.
WHERE: Claremont. 
COST: Prix fixe lunch and dinner menus, from $10 to $40. 

Los Angeles Garagiste Festival
This wine festival will showcase the wines of more than 40 high-quality, limited-production, California commercial winemakers who are making up to 1,500 cases per year. These are small-lot winemakers who may not have the big budgets to market their own wine — more than half of them don’t have tasting rooms — so you may not have had the chance to sip their stuff. There will be 100-plus wines poured, all in the gorgeous setting of Union Station's historic ticket concourse. Take the train to and from the festival, which you should do even if you weren't planning to drink too much.

COST: $65 general admission, $80 premium tickets, $10 designated driver.
