National Doughnut Day at BLD

BLD will give visitors a sneak peak of the ICDC (Ice Cream, Doughnuts and Coffee), Neal Fraser's coming dessert shop, with a range of doughnuts made by pastry chef Mariah Swann. Flavors include cereal milk glazed, beer caramel with pretzel crunch, and apple cheddar fritter. At 6:30 p.m., Swann will offer at the counter the variety of flavors in a tasting-format option with optional beer pairing. The doughnut tasting is $15; beer pairing is an additional $12.

626 Night Market

It's the return of the 626 Night Market at Santa Anita Park, with an estimated 150-plus vendors. Along with beer and spirits, a range of popular Asian street food will be available, which is why organizers urge visitors to arrive at the event hungry.

WHAT: 626 Night Market

WHEN: Saturday, June 8, 4 p.m. to midnight; Sunday, June 9, 4-10 p.m.

WHERE: Santa Anita Race Track, 285 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia; (626) 574-7223.

COST: $2 per person from 4-6 p.m.; $3 per person after 6 p.m.; free for children 12 and under.

Taste of the Nation Los Angeles

In its 25th year, Taste of the Nation is hosting a comprehensive tasting in Culver City to benefit Share Our Strength, a nonprofit organization that suports the city's food banks. Restaurants including Fig, Superba Snack Bar, Plan Check, MB Post, Loteria Grill and littlefork are slated to provide samples. There will be liquid refreshment from bars, wineries and breweries including Black Market Liquor Bar, Golden Road Brewing and One Hope Wine. All of the proceeds from ticket sales, silent and live auctions and the culinary contest go to Share Our Strength.
