Master of Sangiovese

The North American Sommelier Association (NASA) is teaching an intensive certification course on the varietal. Native to Italy, the grape has been planted in other wine regions including California, Australia and Greece, which is among the lessons covered in the two-day course. NASA is a member of the Worldwide Sommelier Assocation and affiliated with the Italian Sommelier Association.

Suds & Shellfish

Seafood will be paired with craft beer for a four-course dinner at Catch. The menu includes dishes like grilled Santa Barbara spot prawns with romesco, Maryland soft shell crab roll, and a clambake that includes local Dungeness crab.

A Benefit Dinner

To support the Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP), Hatfield's has put together a benefit tasting menu that begins with hor d'oeuvres like goat cheese panna cotta followed by three courses, wines from Boony Doon Vineyard and coffee service by the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. C-CAP is a nonprofit organization that provides culinary scholarships and career opportunities to at-risk high school students. Half of the ticket cost is tax-deductible.
