Black Truffle Friday at Mélisse
The Truffle & Wine Co., the largest producer of truffles from Manjimup, Western Australia, will help launch truffle season in Los Angeles at Mélisse. Mélisse chef-owner Josiah Citrin will collaborate with Australian chef Peter Gilmore of Quay in Sydney, for a five-course, truffle-intensive dinner. Dishes include wild King salmon, truffled courgettes, eggplants, almond milk essence (Citrin) and bitter chocolate and truffle black pudding (Gilmore), among others.

Eat Your Words at the Standard

A monthly storytelling event hosted by Greg Walloch, Eat Your Words' stories are inspired by food themes: food politics, the best meal you ever ate, a food memory. Each show features a rotating cast of the city's outstanding storytellers and comedians, with special guest appearances by L.A.-area chefs, bartenders and urban foodies. The June 5 event will feature actor Josh Weinstein, who's opening Bar Bandini wine bar this fall in L.A.

Chef Walkabout With Valerie Gordon
Sustainable Kitchen hosts a series of farmers market events with local chefs, which benefit efforts to fight local food deserts. For this event, Valerie Gordon of Valerie Confections will give a “tutorial” at the Hollywood farmers market, sharing her personal and professional insights on how to best utilize the available seasonal produce. This event benefits the Blind Children's Center to support its teaching garden and nutritional programs.
