Surfas is holding a crash cooking course that will teach you how to make all your meals for the week –  in two hours. You'll learn how to shop, chop and season like the pros. No cooking experience necessary. Meals will be served.

Ugly Drum Pastrami Pop-Up

Joseph Marcos and Erik Black started cooking out of their garage using “ugly drum smokers.” Now, they're holding pop-ups around Los Angeles. The next one will be at downtown's Mendocino Farms. Menu offerings include craft beer pairings, appetizers and smoked meat platters: 12-hour pecan wood – smoked brisket pastrami and Ugly Drum sausages – choose between classic Texas hot link, cheddar and jalapeño hot dog, and Thai chili chicken sausage. Sides include Drago Bakery's rye bread and potato white bread, apple slaw, potato salad and mustard sauce. Dessert included.
