L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade
Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne (Lucques, A.O.C., Tavern) and David Lentz (the Hungry Cat) host this year's Alex's Lemonade, a huge food and drink event, which supports Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. (The ongoing event has raised nearly $2 million to fund research so far.) Local chefs and chefs from across the country will prepare dishes and mixologists will be making drinks, and many of those chefs and bartenders will be on hand to chat during the party. And what a lot of chefs there'll be: John Besh, Roy Choi, Chris Bianco, Giada De Laurentiis, Jeremy Fox, Ben Ford, Ludo Lefebvre, Matt Molina, Mary Sue Milliken, Zoe Nathan, Valerie Gordon, Michael Voltaggio, Kris Yenbamroong and many others.

Altadena Cookbook Swap
Time to sort through all your old cookbooks, as the Altadena Farmers Market and the Institute of Domestic Technology are holding a cookbook swap. Taking place during regular market hours on Wednesday afternoon and evening, the swap provides a forum to exchange your old cookbooks for different ones — think of it as a foodie barter system for books. Bring as many as you reasonably can, as participants are welcome to take as many books as they bring. All food topics are welcome, including
cookbooks, food memoirs or cooking reference books. Then you can go shop for recipe ingredients at the market when you're done.

Sunset & Dine
Back for its third year, Sunset & Dine is a community festival celebrating the food and culture of the Sunset & Vine district. Held at the Taglyan Complex, which is just down the street from the intersection in question, the event will bring together lots of food, beer and wine from local restaurants and bars and a live music concert curated by nearby Amoeba Records. Check the website for participating restaurants and businesses.
