Underwood Family Farms Fall Harvest Festival
Beginning Sept. 27 and running through the month of October, Underwood Family Farms will host its 17th annual harvest festival. Each weekend will feature different events, including a Pumpkin Drop (a pumpkin filled with candy is dropped from 150 feet up), various local Ventura County bands, tractor parades, an animal center (including a goat ramp, a structure built above visitors' heads on which a herd of pygmy goats scampers), pig races, cowboy entertainment and U-pick pumpkins grown especially for the festival. If you wear Halloween costumes on Oct. 31, you get in free. Oh, and there's also fresh produce.

Feast of San Gennaro
The 13th annual Italian street food fest, these days called the Galbani® Cheese Italian Feast of San Gennaro, is taking over Hollywood & Highland, celebrating “everything that it means to be Italian.” This apparently means great food, music, genealogy research, a free kids corner and petting zoo, pony rides, bocce, bingo, carnival rides, games and surprise celebrity chefs demo-ing Italian cooking onstage. In addition, there's the Procession of St. Gennaro on Hollywood Boulevard at noon on Saturday, Sept. 27.

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 26, 5 p.m.-midnight; Saturday. Sept. 27, 11 a.m.-midnight; Sunday, Sept. 28, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

COST: Adult general admission is $5; kids under 12 free.

Whole Grain Cooking Class
The first fall class offered by Nan Kohler's Pasadena flour mill and shop, this class will feature both sweet and savory whole grain recipes from Joseph Shuldiner's cookbook Pure Vegan: 70 Recipes for Beautiful Meals and Clean Living. Grains and freshly milled flour from Grist & Toll will be used in all the recipes. Class tuition includes take-home goodies including a signed copy of Shuldiner's book and two of the featured grains.
