Doctor Who Party and Screening at the Cat & Fiddle

If you know any fans of the British sci-fi show Doctor Who, then you've probably heard that the cult hit is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month. Brits in L.A. is throwing a party for stateside Whovians at the Cat & Fiddle Restaurant and Pub, with a special menu that includes a “Bigger on the Inside” burger and villain-themed cocktails like Racnoss Rum and Sontaran Surprise. The party will feature appearances from host Sandro Monetti and actress Tessa Shaw, who played a UNIT officer in the 1970 Doctor Who episode Spearhead From Space. But the main event starts at 11:30, when the Cat & Fiddle hosts a premiere of the highly anticipated anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.

Whiskey Class and Tasting

Barman Colin Kerr hosts a “brown spirits” class, introducing participants to whiskey and its many nuances. In this 10-seat class, students will be served four classic cocktails and four whiskey-infused seasonal bites by chef Nathan Heartman. Spaces will fill up, so RSVP while you can.

Apres at the W

The W Los Angeles in Westwood is transforming its poolside cabana area into a Swiss ski resort, with the cooperation of Veuve Clicquot Champagne. The Apres Chalet will include fire pits, foosball, sweet and savory fondue and a photo booth. Executive chef Dakota Weiss also will serve wintry cocktails, including a hot apple pie cider and a peppermint Candyland martini. Guests can book one of these cabanas for a corporate or private party.
