Big Bite Bacon Fest
Since we will not collectively ever tire of bacon, and since everybody who went to the San Diego County Fair for Big Bite Bacon Fest probably is out of that food coma, the sizzling pork adventure will travel north for its debut at the Queen Mary in Long Beach on Aug. 2. Local restaurants and chefs will bring more than 40 dishes with unlimited tastings (maybe check with your cardiologist first? Ah well, just saying). So who's coming? Bigmista’s Barbecue (pig candy!), Meat Inc., Slater’s 50/50, Savage Chef, Ghost Scream Hot Sauce, the Donut Bar (bacon doughnuts) and many more, as well as BEER. There will be lots of fun bacon events, including a cook-off, and a judged People’s Choice Award powered by Yelp. Tickets include unlimited bacon and pork tastings, plus a self-guided tour of the Queen Mary. The Doner Revolution, Carb & Nation Pop-Up
Chef Farid Zadi, of the Doner Revolution pop-up series, is teaming up with the Carb & Nation food truck for an evening menu featuring Zadi's Algerian-style cuisine with Carb's handmade sodas and side dishes. Also, Angel City Brewery has created a craft beer pairing for each menu item. Dishes include NYC-style halal chicken and rice with Gold Line Pilsner; lamb and rice with Oktoberfest; and a falafel plate with rice and Angeleno IPA.

Food GPS Fried Chicken Festival
The third annual Fried Chicken Festival, from Food GPS and presented by Bolthouse Farms, is coming up — maybe get your tickets early — held at Chinatown’s historic Central Plaza. (Take the Metro!!) L.A. chefs and restaurants serving fried chicken and sides at this year’s event include Jason Travi (Superba Food and Bread), Brian Dunsmoor (Flores & the Ladies’ Gunboat Society), Kris Morningstar, Homegirl Café & Catering, Nakul Mahendro (Badmaash), Ray England (Craft) and Alvin Cailan and Johnny Lee (Eggslut). Desserts? Quenelle, McConnell's, Valerie Confections, Sprinkles. And Jason Bran and Damian Windsor are creating cocktails for the festival. Also, juice, coffee, tea, etc.
