Banh Mi Day with Andrea Nguyen
Viet World Kitchen's Andrea Nguyen, author of The Banh Mi Handbook, is coming to downtown's Grand Central Market for a food tasting and recipe showcase featuring variations on the Vietnamese sandwich banh mi. Using ingredients from GCM vendors, Nguyen will demonstrate and offer tastings of different banh mi sandwiches, using recipes pulled from her cookbook. In addition, several vendors will create and present banh mi variations, which will be served the entire day at the market as specials. These include Horse Thief BBQ (smoked pork belly banh mi), Belcampo Meat Co. (duck banh mi) and Valerie at GCM (smoked salmon banh mi).

Roaming Hunger's Food Truck Week L.A.
Roaming Hunger, a site that tracks food truck locations, is having a weeklong promotional event, during which 30 of this town's most popular food trucks will be roaming throughout L.A., offering special deals on their dishes and even giving away free meals. You can track them through the Roaming Hunger iOS app, which will be offering “secret” deals daily that are, of course, only accessible through the app. Participating trucks include Komodo, Wafl, Don Chow Tacos and Hurricane Kitchen.

Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture
From the Association for the Advancement of Filipino American Arts and Culture (FilAm Arts) comes the 23rd annual Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) — Southern California’s largest and longest-running Filipino cultural celebration. This two-day, family-friendly festival will feature Filipino and Asian cuisine, a vegetable competition, arts and crafts, storytelling, traditional music, dance and martial arts, and much more.
