Even if today you find no one who loves you, you know you love cartoons — and they'll always love you back, if only because they are forever young and captivating. Cartoon historian Jerry Beck's “Valentoons” is tonight's cure for the hurt of heart — it's like that scene in Hannah and Her Sisters, where Woody Allen has become so depressed that he goes into the theater playing Duck Soup and realizes that the Marx Brothers make life worth living after all. The usual Beck greatness brings together Pepe Le Pew cartoons, Tex Avery fables, and animated love — or lack thereof — in living Technicolor. Not that the evening is off-limits to lovers — as with popcorn horror double features, one of the greatest ways to bond with your decreasingly insignificant other is to forge your budding romance in the fires of Elmer Fudd's endless love-hate relationship with Bugs Bunny.
