Councilman Tony Cardenas appears headed to an easy re-election over a field of three underfunded challengers.

Cardenas has 57% of the vote in early returns. He's far ahead of his closest challenger, 27-year-old Rich Goodman, who stands at 18%.

Goodman, a web entrepreneur who moved into the Valley district six months ago, spent little money but did win the endorsement of the L.A. Times.

That and $3.50 will get you a cup of coffee, however. Cardenas was first elected eight years ago after serving in the state Legislature. His re-election was never in much doubt.
