For a band with four singers at least that many solo projects, the New Pornographers' fifth album Together sounds pretty … well, together.

The Canadian collective is a supergroup in almost every sense of the word, and their power-pop adventuring has never felt fresher that on the new album, which featuring main man A.C. Newman calling upon a cadre of collaborators that includes Neko Case, Kathryn Calder, Dan Bejar, Okkervil River's Will Sheff, Beirut's Zach Condon, Annie Clark (St. Vincent) and the Dap-Kings.

The presence of the original lineup — Newman, Case, Calder, Blaine Thurier, John Collins, Todd Fancey and Kurt Dahle — has brought the band's audiophile following out in droves on their current tour, an eclectic affair that features the Dodos and Imaad Wasif as supporting acts.

Tonight's opener of a two-night stand at the Music Box will bring out its share of Case admirers, to be sure — little birdies up the coast tell us to sit still for her leads on “My Shepherd” and “Go Places” — but it's the whole New Pornographers package of hooks, beats and harmonies that will keep things crisp.
