What can we say about the Dead Weather that you don't already know?

That they really really could have done better on the video for “Blue Blood Blues?”

That Jack White covering “Creep” with Conan O'Brien was stranger than fiction?

That Alison Mosshart has a way of turning us into mouth-breathers?

Suffice to say that after Sea of Cowards, the quartet's second album in as many years (and how often does that happen these days?), every turn by White, Mosshart, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence feels like a victory lap for the blues. It'll be down and dirty tonight at the Palladium.

Elsewhere: Joshua Tree quartet Gram Rabbit, its new album Miracles and Metaphors on the way and a new EP, The Desert Sound, out this week, play the Troubadour, supported by the Ruby Friedman Orchestra and Useless Keys. … New Jersey rockers the Gaslight Anthem visit the Wiltern. … It's Rihanna and Kesha at Staples Center. … And anthemic Brits Keane play the Greek Theatre with support from Fran Healy of Travis and Ingrid Michaelson.

Also: Lee Ritenour & Dave Grusin, Diane Reeves and gusts Taj Mahal, Keb Mo and John Scofield at the Hollywood Bowl; Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants and the Guggenheim Grotto at the Hotel Cafe; {{{Sunset}}} at Spaceland; Halloween Swim Team at the Smell; Leftover Cuties and Maxim Ludwig at the Bootleg Theater; Asura at Low End Theory at the Airliner; Yellow Alex at the Silverlake Lounge; and the Tough Cats at Echo Curio.
