If the current “Clash of Titans” tour featuring Slayer, Medageth and Anthrax has reinforced one notion, it's that anger never goes out of style.

The tour, with Slayer and Megadeth co-headlining, has been raging, drawing metal fans young and old to the music of bands that, along with Metallica, have been setting the standard for extreme metal for three decades.

Slayer, for one, has been cashing in. The quartet's three live DVDs were re-released this year, along with a 10-album vinyl boxed set, The Vinyl Conflict, that repackages all 10 of their American Recordings albums, from 1986's Reign in Blood to last year's World Painted Blood. They're intent on giving their fans their money's worth in arenas, too.

“I'm not just playing leads,” eternally pissed-off guitarist Kerry King said in a video interview, “I'm going to war.”

The battle lines are drawn tonight at the Gibson Amphitheatre.
