Ryan Bingham ought to be a lot more famous than he is.

The 29-year-old roots rocker has already won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for “The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart),” as well as come up big in the scene he had in the Jeff Bridges movie. He's played Coachella and its country music cousin Stagecoach. And that was after his first two albums for the Lost Highway label fingered him as an artist whose soulful twang was going to be around a while.

His new album as Ryan Bingham & the Dead Horses (his anything-but-dead collaborators are drummer Matthew Smith, bassist Elijah Ford and Corby Schaub on guitar and mandolin) is titled Junky Star, it was recorded with A-list producer T Bone Burnett, the man who assisted on the Crazy Heart song.

Bingham has a tour supporting Willie Nelson in the distance, but tonight there's one of those intimate shows — at the Bootleg Theater — to celebrate next week's release of the album. Too bad that place doesn't serve whiskey.

Elsewhere: Tokimonsta, the nom de tune of producer Jennifer Lee, does Low End Theory at the Airliner to celebrate the release of her first full-length Midnight Menu. … It' Norah Jones and Corinne Bailey Rae at the Greek Theatre. … And The Three O'Clock/Jellyfish/Grays popster Jason Falkner surfaces to play music from last year's I'm OK, You're OK at Spaceland. … And the Hollywood Bowl program Gershwin Across America features appearances by Jason Mraz, St. Vincent and Nancy Wilson, among others.

Also: Jimmy Webb at Largo; the White Buffalo at the Mint; the Morlocks' record-release party for The Morlocks Play Chess at Crazy Girls; the Muddy Reds and Matt Ellis at the Silverlake Lounge; Queen Caveat, So & So and Nina Storey at King King; Telegram at Club Moscow at Boardner's; Skeetox & Friends at the Roxy; Tippa Irie at the Viper Room; Henry Wolfe at the Standard in Hollywood; Big Search and Sweaters after the screening of The Scenesters at the Downtown Independent; Filligar, Red Arrow Messenger and All Wrong and the Plans Change at the Troubadour; Sarah Blackwood at the Redwood; and Random Patterns at Echo Curio.
