Tuesday night in Los Angeles: is there anything less promising for the restless? The residencies were last night, the hump day festivities are tomorrow night, and you're stuck in Nowheresville with crazy energy and a fear of being alone. Now what?

If the above video teaser doesn't clue you in on what to expect tonight at Cinefamily at the Silent Movie Theater (it doesn't, actually), then know this: Farmer Dave Scher, best known for his work as part of All Night Radio and the Beachwood Sparks, is curating tonight a celebration honoring his forthcoming solo album, Flash Forward to Good Times.

Scher's been busy in the last few years playing and touring with, among others, Elvis Costello and Jenny Lewis, and working on solo stuff. For the latter, he enlisted a pretty impressive roster of guests, including locals Entrance, Jonathan Wilson, and Devendra Banhart producer Thom Monahan. They help support Farmer Dave's gorgeous, complicated voice, one that hits notes with a golden hammer then caresses them with his pedal steel.

So what's gonna happen at the Silent Movie Theater tonight? According to Dave, we'll be treated to an evening of curated short films, a performance, and limited-edition vinyl giveaways. Helping out will be friends from the dublab crew and Mollusk Surf Shop.
