Lasorda should be institutionalized, but having the Smithsonian hang

his portrait in its august halls was not what some people had in mind.

Nevertheless, that's what happened today, on Lasorda's 82nd birthday, with Lasorda on hand for the ceremony.

 
The institution's National Portrait Gallery unveiled the life-sized painting by Everett Raymond Kinstler to coincide with the Dodger's three-day stand with the Washington Nationals in Washington D.C. The portrait will be up in the New Arrivals gallery through November 15.
