44-Year-Old Driver Killed in DUI Accident near Weirick Road

CORONA, CA (February 17, 2022) – Saturday, Tommy Chu was killed and Jorge Augustin was arrested after a DUI crash on Interstate 15.

According to reports, the incident occurred on the northbound lanes of the freeway around 3:00 a.m., near Weirick Road.

Investigators say the driver of a northbound Mercedes Benz E-350 rear-ended a northbound Honda CRV. As a result, both vehicles went off the freeway and down an embankment across the Weirick off-ramp lanes.

Due to the impact of the collision, the 44-year-old driver of the CRV died at the scene. Corona Fire Department paramedics identified him as Tommy Chu.

Meanwhile, California Highway Patrol officers arrested the 29-year-old Mercedes driver, Jorge Anival Gomez Augustin for suspected DUI and second-degree murder.

At this time, Corona Officials booked Augustin to Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.
