When we heard word that a group put out a mixtape that mashs up the Wu-Tang Clan and Fugazi, it reminded us of the time when we heard that they were remaking Clash Of The Titans.  In other words, this could either be a giant failure or something incredibly epic.

Let's just say this mixtape did not turn out like the Clash Of The Titans remake.

Midwestern producers Cecil Otter and Swiss Andy appropriately created this mixtape under the name Wugazi.  Both Otter and Andy do an excellent job of paying tribute to these two legendary acts on their 13 Chambers mixtape. The record opens up with legendary tracks like Wu Tang's “C.R.E.A.M.” and mashes it up with Fugazi's sleepy piano ballad “I'm So Tired.” This first track alone shows the range of sound that the duo was aiming for, but the sleepy start is deceiving compared to the energy the rest of the mixtape brings.

13 Chambers almost unintentionally features Fugazi's rhythm section more than any other musician/MC on the mixtape. Brendan Canty and Joe Lally driving drums and bass are unstoppable and sound like they were written for hip-hop bangers rather than their original post punk anthems. 13 Chambers will get a lot of attention just due to the fact that both Fugazi and Wu Tang are in the top five groups that hipsters say they listen to but really don't.

But for both fans and newcomers alike, this mixtape is a well-done, tasteful mash up.  Showcasing both Fugazi and Wu Tangs distinct sounds perfectly, it'll change fans' listening experiences of these already classic songs.
