A Lennox-area 24-year-old was arrested this week for allegedly trying to extort $500 from a pet owner for the return of a missing pit bull puppy.

Daisy Angel was in jail Friday with $20,000 bail hanging over hear head. She was booked on suspicion of extortion by Inglewood police, said Lt. Oscar Serrano. She somehow got possession of the lost puppy and contacted the owner, who had posted signs offering a $150 reward for its return, police allege.

The puppy apparently escaped from a gap in the owner's fence on Wednesday. After Angel allegedly asked for $500 for the four-month-old pup, the owner contacted police and a sting was set up.

They say that Angel showed up with the dog, which was promptly turned over to its owner.
