Original photographer description begins, “Assignment: Kid downs. River victim. 24: Lt. Floyd Auten, San Dimas Mountain Rescue Platoon.” A three-year-old girl, wrapped in the blanket seen at the bottom of this photo, died when she fell into a San Gabriel mountain stream and was swept 200 yards.
