64-Year-Old Male Driver Dies in Solo-Vehicle Collision near County Road 24

GLENN COUNTY, CA (February 15, 2022) – Friday afternoon, a man was killed after his tire blew out in a solo-car crash on Interstate 5.

The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m., near County Road 24. Per reports, a 64-year-old man from Clearlake was driving a pickup-truck south on the freeway.

For reasons unknown, his tire blew out causing him to loose control of the vehicle. His vehicle crashed and the impact ejected the driver from the truck onto the road. The man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. Although, his identity is withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

At this time, California Highway Patrol officers believe that alcohol intoxication or drugs were not factors in the crash.

Meanwhile, the crash prompted the closure of two lanes in both directions of Interstate 5, as the vehicle and the victim ended up in the northbound median.

At this time, an investigation into the solo-car crash on Interstate 5 is still currently ongoing. Once available, further details will be provided.
