48-Year-Old Victim Fatally Injured in Big-Rig Collision near Alta Sierra Drive
NEVADA COUNTY, CA (March 10, 2022) – Tuesday morning, Tina Terrell was killed in a head-on semi-truck crash on Highway 49.
The incident occurred around 6:25 a.m., near Alta Sierra Drive.
Per reports, 48-year-old Terrell was driving a gray Toyota pickup-truck north on the highway when she swerved in attempt to avoid striking a deer.
However, the Toyota ended up striking an oncoming semi-truck head-on. Upon impact, Terrell was ejected from the vehicle onto the road.
Meanwhile, the big-rig drifted into the northbound lanes and into a nearby embankment. The semi-truck then came to rest against a dirt berm while its trailer was blocking northbound traffic.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the Toyota driver dead at the scene. Authorities later identified the deceased woman as 48-year-old Terell, of Grass Valley.
The collision also spoiled about 100 gallons of diesel fuel from the gas tanks of the big-rig.
At this time, Nevada County Officials continue to investigate the crash.
